Eurowings Flights

About

Eurowings GmbH is a German low-cost airline founded in 1993 and headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. Owned by the Lufthansa Group, Eurowings focuses on direct European flights and serves around 150 destinations. According to Skytrax ratings, it is classified as a four-star low-cost airline for areas such as cabin comfort, cleanliness, airport and ground services, food & beverages, and staff quality.

Eurowings is positioned as Lufthansa’s value-oriented carrier rather than an ultra-low-cost airline, offering affordable yet flexible options for both business and leisure travelers. As one of Europe’s largest budget airlines, it operates from various bases in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, making it especially strong in connecting passengers to holiday destinations.

As Lufthansa Group’s “point-to-point” brand, Eurowings primarily focuses on short- and medium-haul European routes. While Düsseldorf is its main hub, it also has major operational bases at Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Vienna, and Prague. Its fleet mainly consists of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, which are well-suited to the low-cost operational model.

The airline offers three different fare options: Basic, Smart, and BIZclass. This allows it to cater to a wide range of customers—from those who only need a ticket to those who prefer extra services like baggage and onboard meals. Eurowings is also well known for its strong focus on leisure routes, particularly flights to Mediterranean destinations, the Canary Islands, and the Greek islands.

Check-in

You can check in online or via mobile for free starting 72 hours before departure up until 3 hours prior, and at many German airports even as late as 40 minutes before takeoff.

Airport check-in counters typically open around 2 hours before departure for short- and medium-haul flights (and up to 3 hours for long-haul). Basic fare passengers not using online or kiosk check-in may face a fee—locally around €5 if pre-booked or €20 at the airport—while Smart and BIZclass include free counter check-in.

Baggage Allowance

Hand Baggage

Passengers are allowed one small underseat bag (up to 40 × 30 × 25 cm) included in all fares, and one large cabin bag (up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm, max. 8 kg). In the BASIC fare, the small bag is included, but the large cabin bag requires an additional fee (from ~€18), while SMART includes one large cabin bag and BIZclass includes two large cabin bags.

Checked Baggage

  • BASIC: No checked baggage included; passengers must pay extra—options typically start from around €17 for a 23 kg bag, or €12 for lighter 12 kg bags if booked online.

  • SMART: Includes one 23 kg checked bag; additional bags (up to 32 kg each) are available for a fee.

  • BIZclass: Includes two checked bags of up to 32 kg each.

Other / Special Luggage

Items heavier than standard baggage limits—such as sports equipment (e.g., bikes, skis, surfboards), buggies, or wheelchairs—are classified as special or bulky baggage. These require an extra surcharge and are accepted based on availability. On Eurowings flights, sports equipment up to 32 kg may be free if you pay with a Eurowings credit card, though conditions vary by fare and booking type.

Seat Selection

You can select your preferred seat—aisle, window, or middle—during the booking process. For SMART and BIZclass fares, seat selection is included at no extra cost, while BASIC passengers must pay a fee starting from around €5 depending on the route and timing.

You can also choose seats with extra legroom for an additional fee, which varies by fare and route. Another option is reserving a "free middle seat" beside you, available from approximately €10 on SMART fares or €15 on BASIC fares, depending on availability.

Loyalty Program

Eurowings utilizes the Miles & More program—Lufthansa Group’s well‑known frequent flyer system. By registering for free, you can collect miles and points on Eurowings flights, then redeem them for reward flights starting from as low as 7,500 miles. Additionally, you can accumulate Points, Qualifying Points, and HON Circle Points, which help you achieve frequent flyer status levels with valuable travel benefits.

Frequent flyer status tiers—Frequent Traveller, Senator, and HON Circle—unlock perks such as priority check-in, lounge access (even with certain fare types), bonus miles, and more. Status is obtained by earning Points and HON Circle Points on eligible Eurowings flights, and BIZclass bookings in particular fast‑track your progress toward these elevated levels.

Food & Beverage

Passengers holding BASIC or SMART fares may purchase snacks and drinks aboard via the WINGS Bistro at reasonable prices—creating your own “mix & match” meal is possible from the onboard selection.

If you've booked the BIZclass fare (available on selected routes), you enjoy a free à‑la‑carte meal from the WINGS menu—featuring a high-quality selection of food and beverages.

In-Flight Entertainment

You can enjoy a variety of movies, TV series, songs, audiobooks, and children’s programs through the Wings Entertainment service available on about 57 Eurowings aircraft via the Wings Entertainment app on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. This entertainment option, along with flight and destination information, as well as Wings Bistro and Wings Shop menus, is all included if you purchase the Connect Premium Wi‑Fi package.

With Wings Connect, Eurowings also offers onboard internet access—packages include messaging-only Chat (€2.90–€3.90), timed internet access for 30 or 60 minutes (€3.90/€6.90), or full-flight internet plus entertainment via Connect Premium (€7.90–€9.90). Coverage and speed vary depending on route and aircraft, and flight-schedule and destination info along with special partner offers are accessible through the onboard portal even without a paid package.

Pet Policy

Eurowings allows small dogs and cats (up to 8 kg including the carrier) to travel only in the cabin—checked baggage, cargo hold, or air cargo transport for pets are not permitted. The pet must travel in a soft-sided, leak-proof, bite-resistant, and breathable bag, measuring no more than 55 × 40 × 23 cm, placed under the seat in front; the animal must be able to stand, turn, and lie down naturally.

You must complete and present a pet travel form at check‑in, and if all requirements are met, the carrier receives a special “Pet‑in‑Cabin” baggage label. Dangerous breeds (e.g., pit bulls, Staffordshire bull terriers) are not accepted, and travel with pets is prohibited on certain routes (such as to/from the UK, Ireland, and Dubai), although properly trained assistance dogs can travel free of charge.

Lounge Usage

You can access airport lounges when flying with Eurowings if you hold the BIZclass ticket or have a valid Miles & More status: Senator or HON Circle. These passengers enjoy access to Lufthansa Group lounges and selected partner lounges at numerous airports.

Eurowings has expanded its lounge network recently, now offering access at additional international airports like Dubai, Cairo, Jeddah, and Palma de Mallorca for eligible travelers.

Eurowings Top Questions

On a Eurowings flight, you can expect a friendly onboard experience with a WINGS Bistro offering mix-and-match snacks and drinks, plus options to shop or enjoy in-flight entertainment and Wi‑Fi via WINGS Connect and Entertain. However, travelers note legroom is tight—especially in economy—and buy-on-board menus can feel pricier than on some other low-cost carriers.

Tezfly gets the airline prices instantly from the airline. You can find Eurowings campaign flight ticket prices on the Tezfly website. You can examine the airline campaigns in detail in the campaigns section at the top of the page.
