Oman Air Flights

About

Oman Air is the flag carrier of the Sultanate of Oman and has the status of a 4-star airline according to the Skytrax 2011 rating. The airline was founded in 1993 and has been dynamically developing ever since, opening up new flight destinations. The airline is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization, which advocates standardized quality and safety standards for Arab airlines.

Oman Air focuses on charter flights, scheduled flights and a locally offered air taxi transport. There are also some domestic flights. However, the main focus is on international long-haul flights to a wide variety of countries in the Middle East, South Asia, India and Europe. There are regular flights from Muscat to Salalah, Dubai and Jeddah, for example. In the Asian region, it is mainly large cities and centers such as Mumbai, Hong Kong or Bangkok and within Africa, Oman Air mainly flies towards Dar es Salaam.

Check-in

The airline provides online check-in on its website to save passengers time. Online check-in starts 48 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before departure.

Check-in at the counter generally starts 3 hours before the scheduled departure and closes 60 minutes earlier. The boarding gate closes 30 minutes before the departure of the plane.

During online check-in, baggage delivery is made at the "Online check-in/luggage delivery" counter. There is also electronic boarding pass registration. These rules apply at all airports.

If you are traveling from Muscat Airport without luggage, you can go directly to the plane by passing the "Online check-in/luggage delivery" counter with your boarding pass.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Economy class passengers are allowed to carry hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg and a maximum length of 115 cm on Oman Air. Business and First Class passengers can take up to two pieces of luggage, up to 7 kg. Oman Air requires a size of 115 cm for hand luggage. We must remind you that Oman Air strictly enforces carry-on dimensions to ensure that luggage is securely placed on the seat or under the front seat. In addition to cabin baggage, all passengers are entitled to a jacket, umbrella or walking stick, handbag and laptop at no extra cost. Laptops, baby carriers, strollers and baby food can also be taken on board free of charge.

Checked Baggage

Oman Air has a luggage policy that allows even economy class passengers to carry two bags with a total weight of 30 kg. Passengers who have purchased a flight ticket in the Economy Saver class only are excluded. There is no baggage allowance in the Economy Saver fare.

Anyone who purchases a Business or First Class flight ticket can take two pieces of baggage up to 50 kg for free. Also, if the passenger holds a valid Gold or Silver Sinbad Card, Oman Air's baggage can weigh 50 kg or even 60 kg.

Regardless of the aircraft class, Oman Air's baggage dimensions must not exceed 158 cm in width, height and length. If the standard size or the maximum allowable weight is higher, the airline will charge a custom fee.

If you are traveling with an infant, the airline allows free excess baggage of up to 10 kg.

Special Luggage

Sports equipment, musical instruments and the like are considered special baggage if they weigh more than 20 kg or are longer than 158 cm. A fee is charged depending on the specific baggage size and weight. It is also highly recommended to pre-register special baggage.

Seat Selection

Seat reservation is not only possible on long-haul flights, but also on low-cost flights and last-minute flights and is subject to availability. Reservations can be made both online and at the check-in counter. Oman Air always strives to accommodate guests' requests, so each guest has the opportunity to be assigned their preferred seat where it is important to onboard comfort.

Loyalty Program

Oman Air's frequent flyer program, known as Sindbad, allows passengers to earn Sindbad miles by flying with Oman Air or partner airlines and transacting with any of Oman Air's global partners. Accumulated Sindbad miles can be redeemed for free airfare, flight upgrades, promotions and more. Sindbad has three membership tiers, Blue Silver and Gold. The more people fly with Oman Air, the higher the membership levels. Each membership tier comes with extra baggage allowance, lounge access, priority check-in, priority boarding, and more.

Food & Beverage

Economy Class passengers will be gracefully greeted with hot and cold towels before embarking on their in-flight dining experience. In-flight meal menus consist of Arabian and international dishes prepared using the highest quality seasonal ingredients. In addition, Oman Air offers a range of complimentary hot and cold beverages, including freshly brewed tea and coffee.

The Business Class in-flight meal service, in addition to international and Arabic signature dishes, also allows passengers to request meals exclusively from Oman Air's website via the internet. Each meal will be served in unique porcelain cups. Oman Air has also crafted a wide range of award-winning wines and champagnes to complement the passenger's dining experience.

In-Flight Entertainment

Oman Air's inflight entertainment system offers a manageable selection of movies, music and TV shows that can be viewed on a 10-inch monitor with an integrated touchscreen located in the backrest of each front seat. There is also a USB port at the bottom of the screen for charging your mobile phone or tablet.

For First Class passengers, 100 MB of internet is free for 3 hours. Other passengers can use the internet for a fee on both the Airbus A330 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. You can choose the one that suits you from the packages starting from $4 to $39.90. Cell phone calls can also be made on the plane, but the cost is determined by your carrier.

Pet Policy

Carrying pets on Oman Air is chargeable. The airline never allows pets to be carried in the cabin. These must be taken to the check-in warehouse or shipped as cargo. Oman Air accepts two pets per passenger at check-in.

The cage for pets in the check-in section will comply with the IATA specification. Passengers must call the airline's liaison office at least 48 hours before the flight time to add a pet to the flight.

Lounge Usage

After a new terminal opened at Muscat Airport in March 2018, Oman Air's premium lounges opened shortly after. The design of the resort is inspired by both the Omani landscape and the architectural traditions of the Sultanate. Privacy is created through partition walls decorated with typical ornaments. In the area of more than 2,300 square meters, there are many seating options, as well as lounges where you can do business, rest areas, showers and a wellness area. You can also find a variety of culinary specialties that mix western and arabic dishes.
