Qatar Airways Flights

About

Qatar Airways (IATA code: QR) is one of the world's leading airlines, known for its quality services and extremely comfortable aircraft. Qatar Airways is headquartered in Doha and has branches in many countries. The airline has made Doha's Hamad Airport the operations hub for most of its flights since 2014. Qatar Airways is the state-owned airline of Qatar, founded in 1993.

Qatar Airways has grown rapidly since 1997 and has become one of the best airlines in the world. Starting out with the slogan “We're Going Together”, the airline has succeeded in improving the quality of its services and facilities, as well as quantitative factors such as fleet and number of destinations. This success has been proven by the many awards that Qatar Airways has won. From 2011 to 2016, Qatar Airways is consistently ranked among the top two airlines in the world according to Skytrax, a leading UK-based aviation advisory agency. In 2016, Qatar Airways was also awarded by Skytrax as the airline with the world's best business class, the world's best business class lounge and the best airline staff in the Middle East. Qatar Airways' frequent flyer program also won Freddie Awards in 2006 and 2007.

Check-in

For Qatar Airways flights, you can check-in at the airport check-in counters or use the web check-in service on the company's website.

Check-in at the airport usually starts 3 hours before the flight departure time and ends 1 hour before. The airline strongly recommends arriving at the airport 3 hours before departure.

Online check-in for the flight starts 48 hours before the departure of the passenger plane and ends 90 minutes before. For flights from Doha Airport to and from the USA, check-in begins 24 hours before departure.

Baggage Allowance

Hand Baggage

Baggage allowance for Qatar Airways passengers varies by route and class of flight. First Class and Business Class passengers can take 2 pieces of luggage in the cabin with a total weight not exceeding 15 kg. Economy Class passengers, on the other hand, can take 1 piece of bag not exceeding 7 kg in the cabin. The maximum dimensions of hand luggage must be 50x37x25 cm.

Luggage such as women's handbags, cameras, walking sticks, small briefcases are not included in the hand luggage allowance, and you can easily carry them with you.

Checked Baggage

Qatar Airways checked baggage allowance varies by destination and ticket class: Generally, there is a free baggage allowance of 50kg for First Class passengers, 40kg for Business Class passengers, and 25-35kg for Economy Class passengers, depending on the tariff.

These weights may vary for flights to some countries in America and Africa. There is a free baggage allowance of 2 pieces of 32 kg for First Class - Business Class passengers and 2 pieces of 23 kg for Economy Class passengers.

The sum of the lengths of the sides for baggage per piece is 158cm; where there is a weight concept, the sum of the three dimensions should not exceed 300 cm.

A piece of checked baggage cannot exceed 32 kg. Any baggage exceeding the established allowance must be divided into pieces weighing less than 32 kg. If the weight or number of seats is exceeded, Qatar Airways will charge an additional fee.

Special Luggage

Qatar Airways accepts sporting goods free of charge within the free baggage allowance stated on the ticket.

Bicycles must be packed in a specially designed strong cardboard box. It is necessary to deflate the tires, remove the pedals, and also turn the levers and fix them along the surface of the bike.

The airline will accept surfboards, windsurfers and canoes (canoes) not exceeding 3 meters in length as baggage. Longer equipment should be transported as cargo.

All fishing rods, nets, crates and other bulky equipment must be properly packed and transported in the checked baggage compartment.

Before the trip, make sure all diving equipment air and gas cylinders are emptied and underwater lights and blades are properly packed.

All special baggage whose weight exceeds the permissible norm is subject to payment.

Seat Selection

When booking a flight ticket on Qatar Airlines, you can choose a seat after booking or when checking in for a flight that suits you. You can book a seat at the online check-in, self-service kiosk or at the airport counters. Please note that if there is little time before the flight departure time, it is better to choose seats in advance, as there will be fewer empty seats in the cabin.

Qatar Airlines seat selection fees will depend on the class schedule you choose, the location of the selected seat and the type of seat. Fares can be purchased via the method you choose at check-in for the flight. On connecting flights, you will have to pay the seat fee for each leg of the flight.

Loyalty Program

The name of the program where you can collect points while flying with Qatar Airways is Privilege Club. Many advantages await you in the program, which has Burgundy, Silver, Gold and finally Platinum membership levels. At the end of each year, you can upgrade to a higher membership level thanks to your points, and thus have a more privileged flight experience. There is also a Family Privilege Club where family members can share their points with other family members so that rewards can be received faster. Privilege Club members can redeem points, known as Qmiles and Qpoints, for free flight tickets, discounted car rentals, discounts at one world® partner hotels, and many other rewards.

Qatar Airways also has a program for companies. With this program called Qbiz, you will earn Qmiles when you or any of your employees fly with Qatar Airways. You can earn free flights with these accumulated miles or you can get bigger rewards by accumulating.

Food & Beverage

Qatar Airways has worked with celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa to deliver delicious cuisine tailored to passengers' changing taste perceptions while at an altitude of 30,000 feet. Halal and freshly prepared meals are complemented by a wide variety of beverages. Passengers requesting a special menu must order at least 24 hours before the flight time.

Business Class passengers can enjoy a variety of specialty foods and beverages such as cocktails, Fruity Fizz and refreshing Spicy Zest. Qatar Airways always offers halal food on every flight, so Muslim passengers do not need to place a special order. Special menus such as vegetarian and baby food can be ordered at least one day before departure.

On First Class flight, passengers will receive a special meal served using luxury cutlery from chef Matsuhisa. There is also a wide selection of wines and soft drinks to enjoy before, during and after meals.

In-Flight Entertainment

Qatar Airlines offers its passengers maximum comfort. Aircraft cabins are equipped with entertainment systems behind the seats. With Qatar Airways' Oryx One entertainment system, passengers can access over 3,000 movies, audio tracks and TV shows. In the "Movies" section, the airline went further, offering not only popular Hollywood films, but also offering to get acquainted with the masterpieces of Arab, Bollywood, Asian and European cinema. TV shows include documentaries (European, Asian, Hindi, Urdu, etc.), TED Talks educational programs, and sports channels. In addition, the multimedia system allows you to play games. Passengers can choose from a variety of games, from checkers to casino tables.

Although there are some changes between First Class, Business Class and Economy Class, all passengers are guaranteed a 5-star journey. Most aircraft have Wi-Fi.

Pet Policy

Pets are not allowed on Qatar Airways flights. The exceptions are guide dogs (on flights to/from the USA) and hawks. Falcons are only accepted in Economy class when covered for the entire trip. Passengers can only carry one falcon on board. A chain or rope must be attached to one of the bird's feet and the bird must be tightly tied to its trainer to prevent it from flying. There should be no more than 6 birds in the cabin.

If you need to transport an animal, it will fly in the cargo hold of the aircraft for an additional fee. The airline company does not accept any responsibility for the pets to be carried in the cargo area. Qatar Airways also does not accept many breeds of dogs and cats in its cargo hold due to increased susceptibility to heat stroke.

Lounge Usage

Privilege Club Gold and Platinum cardholders can benefit from the conveniences offered at airport lounges bearing the one world® logo at more than 600 airports around the world. Qatar Airways also has its own lounges accessible to First Class and Business Class passengers at Doha's Hamad airport, London's Heathrow, Dubai and Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport.
