Bek Air Flights

About

Bek Air was established in 1999 under the name Berkut Air as a business jet operator in Kazakhstan, later transitioning to domestic scheduled flights. In 2011, the airline rebranded itself as Bek Air. The airline was headquartered at Oral Ak Zhol Airport and operated a fleet of Fokker 100 aircraft, serving various destinations within Kazakhstan.

On December 27, 2019, Flight 2100 operated by Bek Air crashed shortly after takeoff from Almaty International Airport, resulting in the tragic loss of 12 lives. Following the incident, the Kazakh government suspended the airline's operations. In January 2020, Kazakhstan's Aviation Administration (AAK) identified serious safety violations in the airline's operations. Due to the failure to address these issues, Bek Air's operating license was revoked on April 17, 2020, leading to the permanent cessation of its activities.

Check-in

Bek Air ceased operations in April 2020 following the revocation of its operating license by Kazakhstan's Aviation Administration due to safety violations. Consequently, the airline no longer offers check-in services or flights.

Prior to ceasing operations, Bek Air provided both online and airport check-in options for its passengers. Online check-in was available starting 24 hours before the scheduled departure time, allowing passengers to select seats and obtain boarding passes electronically. For airport check-in, counters typically opened two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights, with check-in closing 30 to 40 minutes prior to departure. Passengers were advised to arrive early to ensure sufficient time for check-in procedures.

Baggage Allowance

Prior to ceasing operations, Bek Air had specific baggage policies for its passengers.

Hand Luggage

Passengers were allowed to bring one carry-on bag with a maximum weight ranging from 5 to 7 kilograms, depending on the fare type. Additionally, a small personal item, such as a laptop bag or purse, was permitted.

Checked Baggage

The checked baggage allowance varied between 10 kilograms and 32 kilograms, depending on the specific fare purchased. The maximum dimensions for checked luggage were not to exceed 158 centimeters in total (length + width + height).

Special Luggage

Bek Air's policies regarding special luggage, such as sports equipment or musical instruments, were not explicitly detailed in the available sources. Passengers were typically advised to contact the airline directly for information on transporting such items.

Please note that these policies are based on information available prior to the airline's cessation of operations in 2020.

Seat Selection

During its operational period, Bek Air provided passengers with the option to select seats during both online and airport check-in processes. Online check-in typically started 24-48 hours before the flight, allowing passengers to choose window, aisle, or middle seats. This method was popular due to its convenience and time-saving benefits.

At the airport, passengers could also select seats during check-in, though choices were limited to the available seats at the time. As a low-cost airline, Bek Air offered simple services, without premium seat options. Seat selection was generally included in the ticket price, ensuring passengers had a basic and straightforward travel experience.

Loyalty Program

Bek Air was a Kazakhstani airline that flew from 1999 to 2020. It mainly served domestic routes in Kazakhstan. Even without a formal frequent flyer program, Bek Air offered perks to keep customers coming back.

Earning and Redeeming Points

Bek Air didn't have a traditional loyalty program. But, it had occasional promotions and discounts. These deals were especially good for frequent travelers on busy routes like Almaty to Astana.

Travelers could save money on tickets. For example, a ticket from Almaty to Astana usually cost around 20,000 KZT.

Membership Tiers and Benefits

Bek Air didn't have a tiered membership system like many airlines. But, it offered several ways to make flying better:

  • Seat selection for 4,000 KZT, giving access to bigger seats in the front rows
  • Business Class had more baggage allowance (30 kg checked, 10 kg carry-on) than Economy Class (20 kg checked, 5 kg carry-on)
  • Free snacks and drinks on all flights
  • Entertainment options like seatback screens, overhead screens, and audio channels

These features were designed to make flying with Bek Air better. They aimed to keep customers flying with Bek Air on its 12 domestic routes in Kazakhstan.

Food & Beverage

During its operational period, Bek Air, as a low-cost airline, offered limited food and beverage services on board. Passengers typically had the option to purchase snacks and drinks during the flight, as complimentary meal service was not generally provided. This approach aligned with the airline's low-cost service model.

However, some passengers noted that Bek Air offered complimentary beverages and small treats, such as candies, during flights. This gesture was seen as a positive aspect of the service and contributed to passenger satisfaction. Overall, the food and beverage options were basic and designed to match the airline's simple service approach.

In-Flight Entertainment

Prior to ceasing operations, Bek Air's in-flight entertainment offerings were minimal. The airline did not provide personal entertainment systems on its flights. Passengers were encouraged to bring their own devices or reading materials to stay entertained during the journey.

Pet Policy

There is limited information available regarding Bek Air's pet travel policies. Generally, specific restrictions and requirements were in place for transporting pets. Passengers were advised to contact the airline directly to obtain up-to-date information on policies and procedures for traveling with pets.

Lounge Usage

During its operational period, information regarding Bek Air's airport lounge access was limited. However, it was noted that Business Class passengers were entitled to access private airport lounges where available. These lounges aimed to provide passengers with a more comfortable and relaxing experience before their flights.
